Twitter Marketing Tips: How many of your tweets should be promotional?
People don’t like to be sold to on Twitter, but if you’re running a business you have to sell! How many ‘sales’ tweets can you send so you actually make sales but don’t annoy your followers?
According to experts, the ideal ratio of promotional tweets to non-promotional tweets varies from 1 in 10 to 1 in 20. The answer of course is to experiment as it will depend on your followers’ preferences and the content of your tweets. If you’re not sure where to start, I recommend starting with 1 promotional tweet in 10.
The most effective way to use this is to go one step further, and use those promotional tweets to encourage your followers to join your mailing list. For example, one in every ten of your tweets might be something like this:
” Get my free ebook – 7 Essential tactics to stop social media marketing from sucking up too much of your time http://socialmediaactionstrategy.com/7-essential/ ”
